What is Meditation?
It is freedom of thought. A state of no mind, it is a state of pure consciousness with no contents; it’s the activation of natural seeing activity of the self or pure consciousness.
It is the finest way to increase ones personal energy by getting connecting to the source ( life force energy or spirit ) Meditation is the key to unlock the mystery of the existence. It’s the method par excellence to go into altered states of consciousness where it is possible to perceive alternate frequency universal which are all simultaneously co existing.
Meditation is easy and not at all difficult. It is knack which can be mastered with the help of regular practices.
Meditation begins basically with aana, paana and sati which mean to keep ones total attention and awareness only on ones normal breathing process.
Anna means in breath (Inhalation), Apana means out breath (Exhalation) and Sati
(Mindfulness breathing) means to be with one..
If you know how to watch your incoming breath and out going breath there should be unbroken awareness for at least 30 seconds to 1 min.
Why Meditate?
Meditation takes you from tension to attention, from stressfulness to gracefulness, from illness to health, from fearfulness to fearlessness, from dullness to sharpness, from rigidity to flexibility, from discontentment to contentment, from restlessness to tranquility, from complexity to simplicity, from fragmentation to integrity, from separatism to unity, from vanity to sanity, from warfare to love fare, from ownership to trusteeship, from loneliness to aloneness (all – oneness), from misery to bliss, from bondage to liberation, from independence to compassion, from self importance to selflessness, from competition to co – operation, in short from disorderliness to orderliness in every walk of life.
You begin with conscious observance of natural breathing process. In case of thought taking away your attention from the breathing process, come back to observing breath without fighting the thought.
Next, include your heartbeat in your awareness along the breathing process. This is called the two point awareness. Let’s bring awareness in the entire body along with the breathing process, and here you are aware of every happening inside your body. In the next stage, Increase your awareness further to include all the sounds of outer as well as inner world. Let your awareness become more intense and broader as well. Let it grow to multipoint awareness, meaning being conscious of many aspects at a time.
What are the different stages to the state of Meditation?
Meditation means to be in a thoughtless state with full awareness.
You are conscious of your breath, your heartbeats, your body sensations, various sounds inside and outside, you are also aware of the air touching your skin, various fragrances in the room etc. By just being rooted into this state the eye of consciousness or the third eye opens on its own accordingly and you start seeing the things directly. The third eye is known as the special seeing. With regular practice you will know how to see the things as they really are. This is special practice known as the third eye experience. Note: instead of thinking about too much on how to start and when to start simply observe your breath and begin your journey into meditation.
When and How of Meditation?
Meditation should be undertaken regularly for a minimum from 20 minutes to 1 hour. Time can be increased further as we progress.
Meditation at the same time of the day and same place is good to begin with as you start understanding the inner state of mind. Any time and any place are okay for meditation. It can be done in any comfortable sitting position, keeping the spine erect as much as possible, legs crossed or folded, hands should be clasped, and right hand should be on top of the left hand, eyes should be closed. This helps in harnessing the energy within by avoiding the drainage of outer flow of energy. Routine wandering of the mind should be cut right away as and when they arise and attention should constantly be brought back to the chosen work at hand.
That is consciously observing the breath.
Freedom of Choice – who ever knows everything but lacks within, Meditation can improve.
Imagine a dog, suppose you present a dog from two items to choose from, a beautiful diamond and a piece of shit, Guess what would interest the dog?
Surely not the diamond, the dog may even piss on it, WHY?
Why is a dog perfectly happy with its choice? Simply because dog’s limited intellect does not allow appreciation of the beauty of the diamond. Our conscious choices are determined and limited by our intellect.
You have limited choices because of your intellect. To help you choose the right item, Yoga and Meditation will help you make your choice.
Your right choice is to be conscious of your health. Life is a gift of God; try to live here and now.
Note: Meditation is neither a prayer, nor chanting or contemplation. No mantra has to be chanted, no form of deity or outside Guru is to be entertained or any breathing practice like holding ones breath should be attentive during meditation.
Just watch your incoming breath. One has to begin with ones total attention on one self’s total awareness.
